Joss Whedon in Final Negotiations for Avengers Movie 14 Apr 10

Joss Whedon was a "leading contender" to direct The Avengers. As of today, reports are saying Whedon is indeed in "final negotiations" for the job. Whedon already has a big screen credit to his name (Serenity). The Avengers is expected to bring together Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and possibly Hulk as the villain.

Iron Man will be in theaters in his own sequel in May starring Robert Downey, Jr., Thor is currently filming with Chris Hemsworth playing the title character and Captain America begins filming soon with Chris Evans in the lead.
