Latino Review is reporting that Marvel has settled on who will be the next superhero from its comic universe to get their own standalone film: T'Challa, AKA the Black Panther. Who are there sources on the matter? They don't say, but they do mention it's been confirmed to them by four trusted informants, so they're fairly confident in the scoop.

It also's not an entirely surprising revelation, either. The Black Panther's homeland, Wakanda, can be seen on a map in Iron Man 2, and it's not the first time the character - whose powers are, according to Wikipedia, "superhumanly acute senses and increases his strength, speed, stamina, and agility to the peak of human development," has been in the big screen pipeline.

Back in the early '90s, Marvel had tried to get a Black Panther movie off the ground starring Wesley Snipes. Back then the comic powerhouse didn't have the studio relationships it has now, though, and so the project spent years bouncing around from potential studio to potential studio. In fact, for the better part of a decade Snipes kept insisting that the film was always just around the corner. Now it reportedly is, but unfortunately there's little chance he'll be even considered for the part.

And really, that's the big question on everyone's mind at this point.
